H3 Max Cost and Credits Calculator Guide
In the standard H3 Max Turbo generator, cost depends on video duration and resolution. The separate character-reference endpoint has its own rate. Both Generate buttons show the exact credit total before submission.
Credit formula
- 480P: 3 credits per output second.
- 768P: 5 credits per output second.

Two-character reference mode
The AI Zombie Video Generator uses fal's non-Turbo H3 Max Reference-to-Video endpoint for two character photos. It charges 8 credits per second at 480P and 12 credits per second at 768P: a five-second draft is 40 or 60 credits; a 15-second clip is 120 or 180. This is a different, more expensive upstream workflow, not a hidden plan fee. The exact amount is quoted before a job starts.
A lower-cost iteration workflow
- Test the composition with a five-second 480P generation.
- Change one major variable at a time: action, camera, reference frame, or prompt expansion.
- Use 768P only after the direction works.
- Keep the final prompt and settings so you can create a controlled variation rather than starting over.
This approach usually produces more useful comparisons than spending all credits on the first high-resolution attempt.
What happens when generation fails?
Credits are reserved before the provider job begins. If the provider confirms a terminal generation failure or content-policy rejection, the current application logic returns the reserved credits. A rejected prompt does not create a usable video, and the interface explains why the request must be revised.
Temporary status-check errors are different from a confirmed provider failure. The system continues to rely on the task and webhook state instead of assuming that every network error means the generation failed.
