For a five-second product detail or a short image-to-video clip, H3 Max Turbo has a much lower listed API cost than Seedance 2.5 in the examples below. For a scene that needs to run uninterrupted for 20–30 seconds, Seedance 2.5 offers a duration our H3 Max generator does not.
That is a useful starting distinction. It is not evidence that one model produces better faces, more reliable dialogue, or a higher proportion of usable takes. We have not run a controlled head-to-head test for this article.

First, decide whether the edit needs one shot or several
Imagine a small plant nursery making a video about a new fern delivery. There are two quite different briefs hiding inside “make a product video.”
One is a five-second close-up: a hand rotates a pot, light passes through the leaves, and you hear the tray slide across the bench. It can stand alone or become one insert in a longer edit. Nothing about that brief requires a 30-second generation.
The other follows the owner from the greenhouse door to the bench, through unpacking and placement, without a cut. The uninterrupted action is the point. Splitting it into separate clips changes the piece—and creates another job: matching the person, plant, lighting, and sound across those clips.
ByteDance documents up to 30 seconds in a Seedance 2.5 generation. That makes it a candidate for the second brief, not a guarantee that a complicated walk-and-unpack sequence will work perfectly. The official release also acknowledges remaining weaknesses in complex physical interactions and scenes with multiple subjects.
Our H3 Max interface stops at 15 seconds. If cuts are welcome, you can plan separate clips and assemble them elsewhere. If a cut would ruin the idea, choose a tool that supports the full required duration rather than trying to disguise that limit with editing.

The Seedance fields above come from its current text-to-video API schema and reference-to-video schema. A website using the model may expose fewer controls. Check that website before buying a plan for a feature you saw in an API document.
There is a specific resolution trap here. At the time of checking, fal's Seedance introduction still mentions a 720p ceiling, while its input schema and pricing card include 1080p. We are reporting the documented input option, not claiming to have measured its native detail or tested its availability in every interface.
The same care applies to H3 Max. fal's Turbo schema includes a 1080P option described as refinement from a native 768P source. We have not added that option to this site's generator. MiniMax H3, standard H3 Max, and H3 Max Turbo should not inherit one another's specifications just because their names overlap; the model distinction guide explains that split.
What does a five-second clip cost now?
Start with upstream API prices, not subscription credits. fal says the H3 Max launch discount ended on September 14. Its current H3 Max price table lists Turbo at $0.025 per second for 480P and $0.04 per second for 768P. Standard H3 Max is a different rate: $0.08 per second at 768P.
That gives these five-second API calculations:

The last row needs an explanation. The current Seedance text-to-video pricing card charges by tokens and supplies an approximate frame-area formula. For a text-only, five-second 1280 × 720 clip:
Estimated tokens = 1280 × 720 × 5 × 24 / 1024
= 108,000
Estimated cost = 108,000 / 1,000 × $0.0214
= $2.3112The card also shows a rough 720p per-second estimate of $0.4730, which would put five seconds around $2.37. The figures are approximate, not two guaranteed invoice totals. Use the current provider quote for the exact request. This calculation excludes reference-video input and does not apply the same rate to 1080p.
These are provider API costs, not AI Live Generator checkout prices, and 720p and 768P are not identical outputs. The gap is useful for budgeting; it does not establish an equivalent-quality winner.
On our site, five seconds uses 15 credits at 480P or 25 credits at 768P. Ten seconds uses 30 or 50 credits respectively. The dollar amount you pay depends on the plan or pack you purchase; see Pricing. A provider's $0.20 cost is not a promise that you can buy a single clip here for $0.20.
A small brief makes the comparison more useful
For the nursery's short insert, here is an original prompt you can adapt. It is a proposed starting point, not a generated example or a benchmark result:

No speech, music, writing, or cut.The brief contains a visible finish: the hand releases the pot and the leaves settle. That is easier to judge than “a beautiful cinematic plant video.” For your own plant, begin with a photo that already has the composition you want; our image-to-video guide explains what that starting frame controls.
Before submitting, decide what would make the result unusable. Here, it might be a pot that changes shape, an extra hand, or a scraping sound long after the pot stops. Use the same rejection criteria if you try another model. Do not excuse an obvious error just because the lighting is attractive.
Pay for the requirement, then judge the result
Choose our H3 Max workflow when a short shot, text or endpoint images, and the available 480P/768P outputs fit the job. Consider Seedance 2.5 when your brief needs its longer duration or reference-input workflow—and check the specific interface and price first.
For a short shot that both can attempt, the unanswered question is the cost of an accepted result. Divide what you actually spend by the number of clips that pass your own review. We do not have that measured comparison, so we will not turn the API price difference into a claim about success rates.
Write the shot's duration, required inputs, and one non-negotiable visual detail before choosing a model. If they fit H3 Max, open the generator with that brief. If they do not, knowing that before the first paid attempt is already a useful result.
